NOMINATION GUIDELINES

EFFECTIVE DATE: OCTOBER 7, 2026

The World Choice Awards™ Nomination Guidelines establish the eligibility, consideration, review, and nomination standards for each WCA awards season. These guidelines apply to eligible people, projects, entertainment works, creators, public figures, brands, organizations, and other nominees considered across official World Choice Awards™ categories.

The guidelines are designed to support a clear, consistent, selective, and fair nomination process while allowing the World Choice Awards™ to recognize relevant achievements, releases, cultural moments, and audience favorites from each awards season.

1. About WCA Nominations

World Choice Awards™ nominations are designed to recognize excellence, creativity, influence, audience impact, cultural relevance, and meaningful achievement across entertainment, music, film, television, lifestyle, digital culture, tourism, and other official WCA category areas.

Nominees may be identified through public suggestions, independent research and review by World Choice Awards™, audience and cultural relevance, category fit, public recognition, industry or community impact, popularity, emerging momentum, and other factors relevant to the category being considered.

Popularity, commercial success, the size of a fanbase, or the number of public nomination submissions does not by itself guarantee selection as an official World Choice Awards™ nominee. WCA may recognize established names as well as emerging, independent, regional, or lesser-known nominees when their work, impact, or relevance supports consideration within the applicable awards season.

2. Eligibility Window

Each World Choice Awards™ edition operates within a defined annual eligibility period. The regular eligibility period begins the day after the previous WCA awards season’s release eligibility deadline and ends seven (7) days before the start of the current WCA public voting period.

For films, television or streaming series, music, albums, songs, projects, and other release-based works, the work must have been officially released or first made publicly available during the applicable eligibility period to qualify through regular eligibility.

For people, creators, artists, public figures, brands, organizations, destinations, and other nominees that are not primarily defined by a single release date, meaningful activity, work, impact, or public relevance must have occurred during the applicable WCA eligibility period.

A work that was eligible during a previous WCA awards season does not automatically carry forward into a later awards season simply because it remains available, popular, or was not previously nominated. Failure to receive a nomination during its original eligibility period does not extend its regular eligibility into a future WCA season, except where otherwise permitted under these guidelines.

The specific opening and closing dates for each WCA eligibility period may be announced or published for the applicable awards season.

2. Eligible Nominees

Eligibility varies by category. Depending on the official categories offered during a particular World Choice Awards™ season, eligible nominees may include:

  • Films and motion pictures

  • Television and streaming series, programs, or other audiovisual projects

  • Actors, actresses, performers, and other on-screen talent

  • Music artists, groups, and performers

  • Songs, albums, EPs, and other eligible music releases

  • Digital creators, influencers, and online personalities

  • Public figures

  • Brands and organizations

  • Cultural moments, trends, or notable audience-driven phenomena

  • Tourism destinations and experiences

  • Lifestyle and digital culture figures

  • Regional businesses, artists, creators, venues, organizations, and experiences

  • Other people, works, projects, or entities that appropriately fit an official WCA category

Inclusion within one of these nominee types does not by itself guarantee eligibility or nomination. All potential nominees remain subject to the applicable eligibility period, category requirements, review process, and other World Choice Awards™ guidelines.

4. Category Fit

World Choice Awards™ may place or consider potential nominees in the category or categories that most appropriately reflect their work, activity, impact, audience relevance, or public recognition.

A nominee may be considered for more than one category when the nominee independently meets the requirements and clearly fits each applicable category. Eligibility or selection in one category does not automatically establish eligibility or selection in another category.

Eligibility is assessed independently based on the subject and requirements of each category. For example, the eligibility of an actor, artist, creator, or other individual does not automatically make all of their previous works or projects eligible, and the eligibility of a work or project does not automatically qualify every person associated with it.

Public nomination submissions may be reassigned to a more appropriate category during the WCA review process when necessary. Submission to a particular category does not guarantee consideration or selection within that category.

5. Public Suggestions and Nominations

When public nomination submissions are open, audiences may suggest eligible people, works, projects, brands, organizations, or other potential nominees through official World Choice Awards™ nomination forms, links, or platforms.

Public submissions are one source used by WCA to identify and review potential nominees. A submission does not constitute an official nomination and does not guarantee that the suggested nominee will be selected for the final nominee list.

The number of submissions received for a potential nominee does not automatically increase that nominee’s likelihood of selection. Multiple or duplicate submissions may be consolidated during review and are not treated as votes.

World Choice Awards™ may also independently identify and consider potential nominees through its own research and review process, regardless of whether the nominee was submitted by the public.

All public suggestions remain subject to the applicable eligibility period, category requirements, accuracy of submitted information, relevance, review standards, and these Nomination Guidelines.

WCA may establish opening dates, closing dates, submission limits, required information, or additional instructions for public nomination periods in each awards season.

6. Review and Selection Process

All potential nominees may be reviewed by World Choice Awards™ before the official nominee list is finalized. Potential nominees may originate from public suggestions, independent WCA research, industry or cultural developments, audience activity, or other appropriate sources.

The review and selection process may consider factors including:

  • Eligibility within the applicable WCA awards season

  • Category relevance and fit

  • Release, activity, or qualifying dates

  • Public availability where applicable

  • Audience interest and engagement

  • Cultural, entertainment, industry, regional, or community impact

  • Public recognition or emerging momentum

  • Accuracy and completeness of available or submitted information

  • Duplicate or substantially identical submissions

  • Overall relevance to the applicable category and WCA awards season

No single factor automatically determines selection. A potential nominee does not need to be the most commercially successful, most famous, most submitted, or most followed candidate in order to be considered.

World Choice Awards™ determines the final number and selection of official nominees within each category. Meeting the basic eligibility requirements allows a potential nominee to be considered but does not guarantee placement on the official nominee list.

Before public voting officially begins, WCA may refine, reassign, add, remove, combine, rename, postpone, or cancel nominees or categories when reasonably necessary to address eligibility, category fit, factual accuracy, duplicate entries, insufficient qualifying candidates, or other issues affecting the integrity of the awards process.

Once the official voting period begins, nominee or category changes should generally be limited to situations involving eligibility errors, material inaccuracies, withdrawals, legal or rights-related concerns, technical issues, or other exceptional circumstances requiring correction.

7. New Releases

Release-based works that become publicly available after the eligibility deadline for the current World Choice Awards™ season are not eligible for that edition of the awards.

Such works may instead enter regular eligibility for the following WCA awards season, provided they fall within that season’s eligibility period and satisfy all other applicable nomination requirements.

A release occurring after the current season’s deadline does not require a special exception or late-entry approval. It is treated as part of the next regular WCA eligibility period.

For example, if the eligibility deadline for WCA 2027 has passed and an eligible film, series, album, song, or other release becomes publicly available afterward, that work may be considered during the regular WCA 2028 eligibility cycle.

8. Regional Categories

area recognized by the category.

A regional nominee must have a genuine and meaningful connection to the geographic area represented. Depending on the type of nominee and category, that connection may be established through factors such as:

  • Physical location or primary place of operation

  • Residence or principal professional activity

  • Origin or established cultural connection to the area

  • Meaningful service to or participation within the local community

  • Significant creative, entertainment, tourism, business, or cultural activity within the region

Simply having a general audience, customers, followers, or occasional activity within an area does not automatically establish regional eligibility.

Regional nominees remain subject to the applicable WCA eligibility period, category requirements, review process, and all other Nomination Guidelines. World Choice Awards™ may determine whether a nominee has a sufficient regional connection based on the nature and purpose of the applicable category.

9. Voting Connection

Nomination and voting are separate stages of the World Choice Awards™ process. Selection as an official nominee means that a person, work, project, brand, organization, or other eligible nominee has successfully passed the applicable nomination and review process and has been selected to compete or receive recognition within an official WCA category.

For standard fan-voted categories, winners are determined by the results of the official World Choice Awards™ public voting process, subject to vote verification, eligibility requirements, applicable category rules, and official results procedures.

World Choice Awards™ may review voting activity for duplicate, automated, fraudulent, manipulated, technically invalid, or otherwise ineligible votes. Such review is intended to protect the integrity of the voting results and does not permit WCA to replace verified public voting results based on editorial preference.

If WCA introduces a category that uses a different results method, such as a jury, panel, editorial selection, combined voting method, or honorary recognition, that method should be clearly identified in the applicable category or voting rules before voting begins.

An official nomination does not guarantee a win, placement, award, or other recognition unless otherwise specifically announced by World Choice Awards™.

10. Fair Use of WCA Nominations

Once official World Choice Awards™ nominees have been publicly announced, nominees and their authorized representatives may publicly identify and promote their official nomination. Fans, media outlets, creators, and supporters may also accurately reference or share publicly announced nomination information.

Official WCA nomination graphics or promotional materials made available for public or nominee use may be shared for promotional purposes, provided they are not materially altered, misrepresented, or used in a way that creates false or misleading information about the nomination, category, awards season, or relationship with World Choice Awards™.

The World Choice Awards™ name, logos, trademarks, official graphics, award designs, and other proprietary materials may not be used to falsely suggest sponsorship, partnership, endorsement, ownership, affiliation, or authorization by WCA or World Entertainment™.

A person, work, brand, project, organization, or other entity may not publicly represent itself as an official World Choice Awards™ nominee, finalist, winner, partner, sponsor, or endorsed entity unless that status has been officially announced or confirmed by World Choice Awards™.

Nomination status must be represented accurately. Being submitted, suggested, considered, shortlisted internally, or otherwise reviewed for nomination does not permit an individual or entity to describe itself as an official World Choice Awards™ nominee.

World Choice Awards™ may request the correction or removal of materially inaccurate or misleading uses of WCA nomination status or official WCA materials.

11. Changes to Categories or Guidelines

World Choice Awards™ may revise, clarify, expand, remove, or update nomination categories, eligibility requirements, voting procedures, or these Nomination Guidelines when reasonably necessary to improve clarity, address new circumstances, correct errors, protect the integrity of the awards, or support the continued development of WCA.

Material changes that may significantly affect nominee eligibility, category participation, or voting should generally be announced through the official World Choice Awards™ website or other official WCA platforms.

Whenever reasonably possible, major eligibility changes should take effect prospectively and should not be applied in a manner that unfairly disadvantages nominees or participants who reasonably relied on the rules previously published for an active awards season.

World Choice Awards™ may make minor clarifications, formatting corrections, administrative updates, or non-substantive changes without a separate public announcement when those changes do not materially alter eligibility, nomination, or voting requirements.

The version of the Nomination Guidelines published on the official World Choice Awards™ website, together with its stated effective date, will serve as the controlling version of these guidelines.

12. Renewal Relevance and Breakout Activity

In limited circumstances, a work whose original regular eligibility period has already ended may be considered during a later World Choice Awards™ season if it experiences a substantial and clearly identifiable new period of audience, cultural, commercial, regional, or international relevance during the current eligibility period.

Renewed relevance may include circumstances such as:

  • A significant new global or regional audience breakout

  • A major resurgence in public attention, viewership, streams, chart performance, or cultural discussion

  • A first substantial release or expansion into new markets or territories

  • A major re-release, reintroduction, or distribution expansion

  • A significant viral or cultural resurgence that materially renews public engagement with the work

  • Another comparable development that creates a genuine new period of relevance during the applicable WCA season

Continued availability, ordinary ongoing popularity, an existing fanbase, late discovery by WCA, or failure to receive a nomination during the work’s original eligibility period does not by itself establish renewed eligibility.

Renewed relevance eligibility is considered on a case-by-case basis and does not guarantee nomination. World Choice Awards™ may consider the timing, scale, duration, geographic reach, audience impact, and significance of the renewed activity when determining whether an older work qualifies for reconsideration.

Where renewed relevance is based primarily on the current activity of an individual associated with an older work, the individual may be eligible for an appropriate person-based category without automatically making the older work itself eligible.

13. Continuing, Returning and Multi-Part Works
